Halloween
I left Linz, headed to Prague, with a freshly laundered backpack
of clothes including new clothes (I rationalized that I needed
due to the cold weather).
The point was to meet up with Helen, Kate, and James for a Halloween
bash. But since I couldn't get ahold of anyone, and because Halloween
isn't celebrated in Prague, I took the night off to catch up on
some Z's.
I finished my 5th book, Hearts in Atlantis from Stephen
King. Good beginning but poor finish. It seemed as if he wanted
to just finish the book in the end. Oh well, I just traded it
for Even Cowgirls get the Blues, a book that my stepfather
always recommended but that I never had interest in, because he
recommended it. Anyway it's turning into a winner.
Not finding the girls, and James tied up with his part-time rent-a-friend
business (teaching English) I hung out with Michaela, whom I met
the first time in Prague. I went with her and a friend to their
English university class. In which they talked all about terrorism
in America and what we should do about it... And then I had the
nerve to ask if they were concerned about terrorist threats in
their nuclear powered country, sadly killing the conversation.
Michaela, her friend, and I headed to a bar for some tea and
coffee. Camera-shy [michaela] allowed me to take a photo for my journal before she caught the
bus home for the weekend.
Later I finally caught up with [helen
& kate] for some dinner. We shared a table with a guy,
Tarq, who was starting a school offering classes in dance, music,
cooking, etc. all in English. Cool guy; grew up all over the world
and spoke a handful of languages pretty fluently because his parents
were ambassadors. His goal was to make enough money from the school
to buy a spanish flaminco guitar then sell the school and move
on...
