Happy New Year!

I had been thinking about going to Vienna and going to a large party with my friends there, but they weren't up for too much... And after all the fun I had with Ilse and Regina we decided to go out again.

After checking out a FFAish party that wasn't too happening, we hit the streets of Amstetten where there were large tents with people dancing, partying, and lighting firecrackers. We met up with some other friends of the girls and counted down the minutes.

Right at the strike of New Year a light snow began to fall and christened in the New Year. To the locals, snow is something that they take for granted. But, to me, every time it begins to snow I get really excited.

I'm trying to figure out how I can work in a location where I can walk to the beach in the summer, drive less than an hour to go snowboarding in the winter and be able to speak foreign languages with the locals... If anyone can suggest a place, let me know...

We then proceeded to Ilse's house where her parents had just finished entertaining guests. I saw some Schnappsen cards and asked if anyone wanted to show me how to play... well I began to get the gist of the game and before we knew it, it was 5 in the morning.

After a healthy sleep and a nutritious früstuck, we tuned in to the Vienna Symphony's New Years Day Concert and zoned out to the music and 'traditional' imagery that was edited into the TV version: the Ricola horn blowers, the Krampos, the lakes, the mountains, the snow, the Spanish horses. It could have been really cheesy if I had been in a normal conscious state, but because of my delirium, it was really quite entertaining.

Comments

I suggest Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Beach in Summer, lots of snow in Whistler and surrounding mountains in winter.
