A Little Worried, but Very Safe.
Gabi & I were on our way home from doing some errands in Poznan
and talking about something when she stopped me and said the radio
announcer on the was had just said that some airplane had just
crashed into a building in NY.
Being more interested in what we had been previouly talking about,
I said that airplanes crash all the time, and continued talking.
When we go home Michal was yelling for me to come see what was
on CNN.
I was really stunned when I realized that I had been in those
towers just a year earlier. I sat and watched for about 10 hours
wondering how my friends in NYC were and thinking about all the
effects that this would have on the whole world.
Update- Oct.10
I'm relieved to report that I don't know anyone personally effected
due to 9.11.
But I have lost my UA Companion Pass; so now I have no ticket
home... I guess it might actually be safer to remain abroad...
I've been told that traveling during Desert Storm was cheap and
uncrowded in Europe... We'll see.
Update- Nov.22
UA has started the Companion Pass service again! And, even better,
has extended all expiration dates by one year! Now I can come
home someday.
