Festival de Cornouaille
The Festival de Cornouaille in Quimper has been a non-stop party
in the streets. Celtic song and dance everywhere. There's about
five venues all around the downtown. One was free so we spent
most of our time there.
We also climbed the trails of a hill with great views overlooking
the old city. [skys

The dollar is so strong here that if you want to treat yourself
to an expensive meal it's still relatively cheap. One dollar is
roughly 7.5 Francs and a top of the menu meal is about 50-75 Francs.
We decided to get a few entrees since they looked so good and
were so cheap. We had a bucket of steamed mussels, twice baked
potatoes, couscous with fish in a red sauce, and, of course, wine
and french bread.
Kirsten had heard of the headlining band, Capercaillie [awesome
violin and electric bagpipes], who were playing on the main
stage that night. Not wanting to pay 110FF to get in, we went
to a local bar. Board
of the bad live music that was playing we headed to the Capercallie
show where the opening band was just finishing. We talked in broken
french to the couple garding the barrier about who was playing,
where we were from and the such.... When they opened the barrier
to let in a few official persons, Kirsten acted as if she was
sneaing in. To our surprise, after a quick word with each other,
they let us in and escorted us to the front row.
I'm not way into celtic music, but live music is always awesome
because of the crowd and because you can see the musicians' expressions.
The eight person band put on a great show and the lead singer
could do amaizing things with her voice.
After stopping for a coffee, we made it back to the campsite
around 2am.
Wide awake now, I don't think that I've gotten used t the time
difference.
