Headed to the Coast
Ran out of Shakespeare and Co. late and missed the train that
we wanted to catch. But Kirsten and I caught the next train an
hour later.
From the train, the French countryside is very lush, green, and
beautiful. We are riding the TGV that is going through towns at
about 100mph, which is quite exciting...
...Arrived
in Quimper, north-west France, 24km from the coast.
A very small and beautiful town. We got a good look at the
town as we took the wrong bus on the way to find the campground.
After showers (camping in Quimper is plush) and naps we headed
back into town. Apparently there is a week-long Celtic festival
going on and we arrived on the second day! We walked past the
big (for Quimper) band stand and found a smaller free venue. Watched
some cultural dancing with bagpipes and all. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
Had great Crepes; I reccomend the banana/chocolate for dessert.
Walked by the bandstand and through an unattended entrance. We
saw the last song from some random band who's leader had Billy
Idol hair and was wearing see-through pants with a large crab
covering his crotch! [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
What a crazy night!
Hi Beau...
You sound like you have really made the most of each moment away. I just thougth i'd have a quick look at your website and aside from being a little jealous of everywhere you've been i'm soooooo happy that your having so much fun and seeing (it seems) most of what you had hoped to. I'm at home now, living on the sunshine coast. I've been home for 3 months and this week am finally starting to feel at ease wiht being at home. If you want to visit just let me know maybe you can add australia to your list.
this is on a card beside the computer...it may seem rather random, who knows maybe today is your day for feeling like some Emerson
SUCCESS...
To laugh often and much
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children,
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, a redeemed social condition, to know one life has breathed easier becasue you have lived,
this is to have succeeded.
Hope you are happy, safe and comfortable...you deserve to be.
