Don't Give a Damme

Just outside Brugge is the small historic town of Damme. Mike and I made the scenic ride there on his scooter which was quite a rush. (I want a scooter when I get back the the states!)

When the river Zwin silted, the town of Damme became the port of Brugge. When it silted up again, Damme fell and has since been replaced by Antwerp.

The most famous part of the town is Damme Church which is about three times taller that anything else in town. Views from the top: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

The Damme Hall is also a historic building. Bottom right door opens to an ATM in a room with a 5.5 foot celing... for the tourists not the locals.

Mike stopped fishing in Damme because the majority of tourists would ask if he had caught anything.

I was staying with Mike Verstraete and his family (Mike, Selene, Franky, Miebe, & Max) for one night before heading off to PukkelPOP)
