Dirk Van de Velde

Well Bruno and Bart's parents, on holidays in France, called back and said that they had changed their minds about me staying at their house for a week in Brugge. Dirk, Bruno's friend, offered me a place to stay for a few nights.

I had a fantastic time with Dirk, his dad and step-mom. His dad is an electronics specialist, or something and and has the whole house is tricked out in all kinds of gadgets. Besides many random alarms, one gadget detects if the rain is falling a certain way and warns the family that they should close the windows on that side of the house.

So Dirk has a lot of the same knowledge and is putting it to use creating a custom sterio system. His speakers have electronics that split the high and low sounds before they are amplified for a crisper sound than common sterios.

His step-mom made me promise to send a postcard when I get back to the states. I hope that she remembers me when she gets it!
