On the Beach Again

After five days of Amsterdam I had my fill and needed some relaxation. The Flying Pig Palace in Amsterdam had recently opened a beach location in Noordwijk, Holland. The beach sounded like a good place to relax.

Jamie, who I met on the shuttle bus between the two hostels, and I hired bikes and took a three hour bike ride on the paved paths among the dunes south of Noordwijk.

The beach is famous for their kite surfers. [1] [2] [3] I wanted to take a lesson but it was pretty expensive. The kite is really ingenious; it flys itself to a stable position whenever you wipeout. There are different boards depending upon what type of conditions you're surfing in and weather your goal is to travel or to play. The instructor on the beach had kite surfed as transportation between the Hawaiian islands!

A bunch of us (Jerome, I, Lauren, Jaime, Jason, and Cathy) pitched in and I made a curry stirfry. Jerome and Cathy are siblings traveling from France, Lauren is from Manhattan(NewYork), and Jason is a LA boy(California).

The beach was very nice but it rained cats and dogs with thunder and lightening most of the time. So we had a lot of fun inside watching movies, munching, and joking [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [Jason: Biertje?] [Beau: Biertje?] This Jason (New Jersey) was quite a character because he spoke as if he was an African American who grew up in the hood. Good ententions but some found him to be a bit vulgar... cheers Jason.
