Hitting the streets with Tony
Stayed at Shakespeare
& Co. last night since we missed the last metro by about
5 hours. It's a famous English bookstore in Paris, run by a excentric
man, George Whitman, who allows travelers to stay on the small
beds around the store. The accomodations are just the necessities:
bed(covered
w/books) and W.C. No showers, but there's a city
fountain(tim) out front.
Visited the flea markets of Clingoncourt, had
a beer with a plumber from south-east africa, and Sacre
Coeur(again) [2] with Tony.
Tony, from Arizona, invited me to a party that he had been invited
to hosted by Jim Haynes(founder of SUCK magazine, 60's radical,
english bookstore owner). Ninty-plus-people
to talk with (Jim's 14-volume addressbook tells all), great
food, great
girls(Sylvia Beach Whitman). To the surprise of Tony and I,
four S&Co. people showed up to. Pose
before hitting the metro.
